This video is an abridged overview, history and opinion of each Duke Nukem game released. Simple enough, enjoy!

Duke Nukem Forever is out on June 14th here in the USA (for some reason, I don’t get why Europe already has it) so expect the review sometime later.

  1. Great retrospective! I don’t want to be disrespectful over Id software work, but as far as graphics go I like Duke3D’s real world setting, bathroom mirrors and render-to-texture effects (utilized in CCTV monitors, and a greater extend in Shadow Warriors RC car puzzle) better than Quake’s lighmaps and other texture rendering capabilities.

If you are interested, a German retro fan called “Retro Hunter” also has posted a similar structured retrospective, see http://www.gamersglobal.de/video/duke-nukem-die-vorgaenger

Thank you for your effort in presenting all the game ports and their properties, it was very interesting to watch, though the videos of the PSX and Saturn ports were really muddy. Did you use a VCR for recording the footage?

    • No, I just used my normal digital video capture device. It’s just that the output from those systems’ composite video is crap, especially noticeable when run through a USB capture device like mine.
