    hard drive heads dont touch the disk, thus the crash, as the head crashes into the disk surface. This thing works to suck the disk to the head of the drive, and if anything goes wrong the disk by physics is repelled from the head instead of dragging to a halt like a floppy or crashing down like a hard disk.
